About Us
Created by Cindy and Lori, sisters-in-law who share a passion for the game as players and hockey moms, they are enthusiastic hockey players who love playing the game and know many others who share in the passion of women’s hockey. Cindy and Lori both started playing hockey in their mid-twenties, taking a year off here and there to have children (three kids each). They are mompreneurs with young families, who, like everyone, struggle with the everyday complexities of life.
When Cindy stared to play she looked for paraphernalia that would declare her love for the sport, but all she found were big, boxy men’s and boy’s t-shirts.
“There was nothing out there for women,” Cindy laments. “I was really surprised since it’s a sport that more and more females are taking part in.”
When Cindy and Lori started talking while at one of the many hockey games they attend together, either as teammates, moms or wives, they decided to launch their own line of t-shirts, clothing and undergarments with women and girls in mind, and She Plays Hockey was born. They started by hauling their gear around to local hockey tournaments and the response was immediate.
“The girls love it. Even though they are out their on the ice and playing hockey, they still want to be girls which is why our pink undergarments were an instant success, so were our fun and funky t-shirts, hats and hoodies,” adds Lori.
The game of hockey incorporates many things: healthy competition, excitement, team spirit, and friendships. It is a great way for girls and women of all ages to get exercise, make new friends and experience the camaraderie of being part of a team. For more mature ladies who may have a career, children, or both, playing hockey provides a source of balance that we need in our busy lives. It also provides stress relief and scheduled “me time”, which we all know is sometimes hard to get. Hockey leaves you with a “life is good” feeling when you exit the arena at the end of the game.
